The THANG

The Deconstructed Burpee

Squats, then leg thrusts, then Merkins, then leg thrusts, then jump squats. For example, do 10 squats, 10 leg thrusts, 10 Merkins, 10 leg thrusts, then 10 jump squats. Decrease reps by 1 each time until you get to 1 each.

Gave PAX the choice of staying together or OYO, PAX chose to stay together. Not sure how to count cadence for a deconstructed burpee, but we all managed to stay roughly in unison with reps.

Start at one end of track, do 10 deconstructed burpees, mosey to other end of track, do 9 deconstructed burpees, mosey to other end, do 8 deconstructed burpees, mosey, deconstructed burpees, etc etc etc until down to 1 deconstructed burpees. To finish the last 2 min left, we did 2 4×4 burpees. Moseyed back to the parking lot.

I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind, just make you think. These are questions for inner dialogue, nothing more. What is prayer? One of my favorite spiritual leaders/authors has said that the west has made prayer into something functional………..something we do to try and manipulate God into doing/giving us what WE want. Consider that prayer is a constant union with God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16, Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing”. We can’t walk around all the time in prayer like I was taught growing up, so maybe there’s something I’m missing about prayer. Lately I’ve been dealing with a lot more sadness over my fathers “deathday” anniversary than in previous years, but my “constant union with God” has definitely helped. I try not to “ask” God for specific things anymore. But when I do, I know that the answer might be “no”. Here’s a line from a movie I found very thought provoking. “God gives us the answers we would ask for, if we knew what He knows”

Moleskin

It was a smaller group this morning due to the county school system’s Fall Break and vacations. It was great having a smaller number of PAX so we had more camaraderie. Lots of “TWSS’s” and general mumble chatter. Mostly the PAX wondered about the guy who thought up the Q for this morning. There were at least 2 10 counts called at each end of the track. Everyone was definitely feeling the pain. All in all by the end the PAX enjoyed the simplicity of the beatdown.
