This was a You vs You workout. You could go as fast or as slowly as you wanted. And if you only focused on yourself, you wouldn’t notice what the men around you were struggling or dealing with. You also wouldn’t notice who had come before you, or who was following in your footsteps. Take some time today and pay attention to someone else in your circle, and ask them how they’re doing. Maybe you have perspective on something that you can help them with. Maybe they’ve been there before you, and can offer advice to you.


It’s easy to get self-absorbed. But there are a lot of men traveling the same path you are, who either can help you, or need help from you. Be a brother.

    Start at the pad behind the field goal.

    PAX to do 100 reps of these exercises (Merkins, LBC’s, Lunges, Imperial Walkers, Flutter Kicks) then take a lap of the track, we’ll do this 5 times, hence the title 500! PAX must do 100 of each exercise by the completion of all 5 rounds, e.g. you could 20 of each exercise per round before you run the lap. 100 reps then take a lap, rinse and repeat.

    When PAX is finished with all 5 rounds mosey to the football stands.

    25 dips then 25 reverse merkins on the bars (lay on your back and pull up) Rinse and Repeat until time is up…

    Mosey back to pad. PAX had time for a few stretches to warm down, Slow Willie Mayes Hayes x 10 IC and Forward Fold silent count…. TIME!

    The PAX were few but the effort was Huge! Half the battle was getting out of bed especially when its 21 degrees outside. Men who will show up in these conditions will show up when life gets tough and you need help…F3 is more than a workout.

      Broke open the qsource this week and the intro contained a good enough nugget to share with the pax today. Leadership is a skill that requires honing. It is not like a square jaw or receding hairline (thank you very much) that you’re simply born (blessed) with. Sure, some guys may seem to possess traits that make them better “natural” leaders but don’t let it discourage you. F3 is a great source of leadership training. Get into the Q Source and if you haven’t q’d a workout I highly recommend it!

But there are a lot of people who *live* like this, and it’s getting colder and more uncomfortable outside.               Indigenous Peoples Burpee Run (keeping it politically correct) each Pax did 3 rounds. We then picked out some coupons I stole from my neighbor’s scrap pile last night and partnered up for a Dora. 100 curls, 200 overhead presses, 300 squats and 400 little baby crunches. We then moseyed over to the pavilion and while one partner did 30 leg lifts the other partner practiced their best Fight Club moves while sitting on the wall for a couple of rounds. Upon completion we bear crawled back to the flag with no time to spare.

              Today is Veterans Day. It is not lost on me that we are blessed to be able to gather, fellowship and practice our faith in this country freely how and when we see fit. There are places in this world where bowing your head around a flag is not allowed. We owe a lot to our Veterans and let me encourage everyone to take a moment and thank the people in their lives who served in the military for doing so in whatever capacity they did. My dad was drafted during Vietnam and served in the Army and my brother served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the Air Force. I love them very much and am proud I can give them a buzz later today.
              BALL OF MAN: Milkman asked for prayers for the young marine’s family who took his own life last week. Couch Potato made a point of encouraging us all to look out for those guys who are struggling after their service. Let’s get headlocks on those guys and get them out in the gloom with others who can help encourage and pick them up when life gets hard. Hasboro’s grandmother is recovering from a heart attack over the weekend, but is in good spirits.

              It was a good morning all the way around and my first time to Q at the Huey. Milkman runs faster backwards than forwards I think, and Ducktales and Couch Potato may or may not need to be tested for PED’s. Burrito insisted we bear crawl to finish the day off (he’s an animal), and I got my gloves all wet, which is a bummer. I have my suspicions U-Turn may be a CIA assassin (he is a quiet guy who I am pretty sure is holding back and could make Couch Potato look like me if he kicked it up to a 10). I’ll bet his body count is prolific. For that matter Hasboro may be one too.

                  Getting up this early in the freezing cold to workout sucks! In the spirit of Invigorating Male Community Leadership, reminded PAX that in the service of their country/community, men are often called to do hard stuff. Brief Am History Lesson > December of 1776 at critical point of Revolution in fight for Country’s Freedom, Thomas Paine writes pamphlet ‘The Crisis’ and penned these words read to PAX: “These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell is not easlily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly…

                  In the days ahead, it would inspire General Washington and his troops to cross the Delaware on Christmas Eve in the freezing cold to essentially turn the tide of the war and help to win and establish the freedoms we enjoy today.

                  Takeaway, our decisions to either “shrink back from service” or push through to do hard things can have significant impact to both ourselves and our posterity.
