      Full disclosure – I found this from an Italian Job post in Rock Hill Region (“The Rock”) and found it to be extremely… “Impactful”. I couldn’t have said it better myself, so I didn’t.

      As #HIM, we influence many around us – our brothers, our co-workers, our communities.

      The most important influence we can have is at home. Sometimes we forget how much impact our words and actions have on our families. Our children are watching and learning with every move we make. If we lose our temper, they see it. If we are glued to our phones, they notice. When we love our wives, they see it. When we make time for our families, they notice.

      Our children are the future of this world. If you want to change the world, it starts at home. We have to make sure our impact is positive. We need to carve out time for our families. If we can do it for work, why can’t we do it for those that really matter? If you lost your job today, they’d replace you within the month. But you cannot be replaced at home.

      I’ve said it before, our children spell love T-I-M-E. You see, the story that may seem trivial to us is really important to our children. We must make sure we pay attention to those little things, because to our kids, they are everything.

      Here’s the challenge for all reading: Be the dads we need to be. Be the husbands we are called to be. Then watch as the future generations become better versions of us. We reap what we sow. If we sow encouragement, we get love. If we sow discord, anger ensues. If you want to change the world, start at home.

      • Happy 39th Birthday to Early Bird! Proud of you my man!
      • Everyone died, as expected and warned. Felt a lot like the Oregon Trail.
      • It was YHC son’s (Wyatt aka “Raptor”) third post this week. Previously he didn’t want to be named – but today he had no choice. I couldn’t be more proud of my boy!  It was an honor to talk about the importance of Impact, influence at home and having my son join us for F3.  Full heart, Watery Eyes, Cant Lose.
      • Again re: Raptor – he decided to log roll down the hill once and when he got up he fell over four times from dizziness. That would have been enough for YHC to splash alone
      • Pine Breeze hill is nothing to scoff at – brought us to our knees. Most everyone died.
      • Fissure died midway through the Thang; he recovered and went to the toilet. Last I heard, he’s still there at White Oak Park bathroom facility.
      • The Count has a drone and is not afraid to use it!

              CIRCLE OF TRUST: I’ve got two kids. When my son was born, I was expecting a rough and tumble little ball of aggression. My son is not like this at all – he’s gentle, kind, brilliant, and pensive. It wasn’t until he was about 3 when I realized who he was, and how to embrace the kid he was meant to be – now, I’m overjoyed to be his dad. When my daughter was on the way, I thought that I would handle it better; I knew girls, and she would be sweet, respectful, and proper. Instead, she bounces off of everything and is a true spitfire. I made the same mistake with her that I did my son – I expected something out of her that wasn’t fair, and wasn’t true to who she is. Over the last several weeks, I’ve been praying for a better relationship with her, because I just don’t know her very well. My eyes have been opened to the true wonder of who she is, and was meant to be.

              Sometimes, especially as dads, we have expectations of what our children, our wives, or our lives should be like. Instead of wasting our time trying to put people and situations into boxes that they cannot possibly fit, change your expectations. Embrace who they are, and meet them for who they’re supposed to be. You’ll find that you enjoy them much better than if they had fit your stupid template.

                  YHC could not be more proud of the PAX as we shared the Gloom together. The work wasn’t easy and the heat didn’t help, but the PAX continued to push through the suck. To see such a crowd turn out in honor five heroes, was truly humbling. 

                  TClaps to Mr. Clean for organizing the event and the extracurricular ruck. It’s clear that this region has a special thing going. Thank you each for the hospitality. I encourage you to continue lifting up your brothers and honoring each other with your commitment.

                  As you prepare for the week ahead, take a few minutes to remember Sgt. Holmquist, Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith, Gunnery Sgt. Tommy Sullivan, Lance Cpl. Skip Wells, and Staff Sgt. David Wyatt. Pray for their families, friends, and loved ones.                     The Thang – Meeting in the Middle, Not Halfway

                    Split into pairs. Goal: most number of reps in time allotted. Way: in middle of the circle:

                    1. Wheelbarrow decline merkins x 15 (single count) x 2 partners = 30; (or both partners do squats with coupon until first reaches 30)
                    2.  Both partners do Big Boy Situps until first partner reaches 20
                    3. Both partners get up and either bear crawl or lunge (together) to any edge of the outer circle
                    4. Partners run around outer circle in opposite directions as fast as they can until they meet
                    5. Both partners run/jog together to the middle of the circle

                    Rinse and repeat until 6:10. Each set of inner circle reps = 50 points and each joint lap on outer circle = 50 points.

                    Mosey to parking lot, returning coupons on the way. American hammers x 10 IC + low plank until 6. Time.

                    We are often told relationships are 50-50. But we are called to higher standard as HIM. 1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands live with your wives in an understanding way.” Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her.” John 15:12-14 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” Meet in the Middle (go to the heart of the matter). Not halfway — we are called to go 100%, and we are able to do so only because someone went 100% of the way for us first.

                    Sunshine and Jazzy Jag took the prize on the Meet in the Middle challenge with 650+ points and most everyone else lost count. It’s hot. We sweat. We ran in circles. Bear crawls seem to be faster than lunging. Wheelbarrow decline merkins may be faster than squats with coupons. We still don’t know if aliens are the architects of the Coolidge crop circles…
