QIC encouraged the PAX, as fellow leaders, to be the light for their family on Christmas this year. Christmas 2020 will be very different for a lot of reasons, and our families will be reaching for reasons to be happy in the midst of it all. First and foremost, Jesus is the reason for the season, and we are responsible for making sure that this is the primary focus. As leaders, we of course can be subject to feelings of sadness and frustration that things aren’t the way they always have been. We also can’t just snap our fingers and change the circumstances. What we can do, is rise above our feelings and project strength and happiness for others to hold onto. Happiness and laughter will bring joy to your family members who may be struggling. Get out front and bring that cheer! No matter how small your Christmas gathering is, use it as a time to push your loved ones into 2021 with a nice Christmas memory. Momentum is so powerful!

    On Thanksgiving morning, I received an email from my Gran. She lost her spouse (my grandpa) in recent years. My Gran has had a hard time with it, and has prayed a lot. She talks about how she wishes he would show up in her dreams and wonders why he hasn’t. Well, it happened the night before Thanksgiving, and that’s what her email was about. They were in some sort of terminal, she couldn’t recall whether it was a train station or an airport. When they saw each other they ran toward and embraced. She talked about details like being able to smell his aftershave and feeling his hug. My Grandpa had badly arthritic shoulders toward the end of his days, but in her dream he was his younger self and could wrap her up. I am so thankful that My Gran shared this with me on Thanksgiving for several reasons. Mainly because she was so happy… because the dream brought her joy and not sadness… but also because it reminded me to appreciate the small things about the ones we love. The holidays can be a stressful time with travel and all the hustle bustle… I feel like the email from my Gran made me slow down this Thanksgiving and heightened my awareness in cherishing the small things about my family and friends. We never know how long we have with each other and we need to maximize our experiences together!

        Opportunities. Receive them and Extend them. There is always more light in the world when we are looking for it. From taking on a Q at a new location to EH’ing an FNG… we are all constantly on either the receiving or the giving end of an opportunity… as long as we stay in the game… as long as we remain open and optimistic toward opportunity. In finance, there are huge opportunities to invest in stocks, in real estate there are an abundance of opportunities, in business new things are happening and opportunities are everywhere. Even during, and especially during, times like these of uncertainty. Opportunities are powerful because they connect people, and motivated people make things happen. Stay aware, and stay ready!

          THE TRAIN: 

          At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel by our side. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, strangers and even the love of your life. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum. Some, however, will go so unnoticed that we don’t realize they vacated their seats. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves. The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.
          I wish you a joyful journey for the coming years on your train of life.  Reap success, give lots of love and be happy.  More importantly, thank God for the journey!

            Next, we recognized the 110 flights of stairs that were climbed by the firefighters (FDNY)

            There are bleachers on both sides of the 400m track, and they were incorporated in a lap as follows:

            30 LBC’s at the base of the first set of bleachers, PAX ran up the stairs to the top of the bleachers, across the top, and back down the other side, ending with 25 merkins. Continue on the track to the other side of the football field, and repeat 30 LBC’s and 25 merkins on the starting and finishing ends of the bleacher run. Finish the lap. 30+25+30+25=110

            QIC shared with PAX his memory of discovering that we were under attack on 9/11/01. Where I was, and who I was with. We all have a story, and will never forget the feeling in our guts at that moment. Today brings that feeling back like it was yesterday. An act of hate did an immense amount of damage 19 years ago. With the devastation and mourning of the lives lost, also came concern about the future of our country, our safety, and our economy. With time, determination, fellow man coming together, and Lord Jesus, we were able to rebuild our economy and take down the leader responsible for the attack. Life is unpredictable and we can only do our best at dealing with tragedy… and we learn how along the way. Today, our country deals with a new challenge with the Covid pandemic as well as internal hatred occurring in our own country amongst each other. Although we will never forget… this too can be recovered from. Our God is at work, and we must do our part to eliminate hate and come together as a nation in order to make ANY progress. It was an honor to lead today, in honoring and remembering those lives lost on 9/11/01. Continuous prayers for their family members who mourn those lives of their loved ones.

            Merlot was splashed by our FNG – Bonsai. I continued Q’ing the beatdown as fellow PAX made sure he was ok. Once empty… Bonsai continued, and finished the remaining 15 minutes. Brining in his six, I explained our lovely term of splashing merlot, as well as our ideal of picking up the six. Encouraged him that we all get better here and we do it together. He will be back

            After we prayed, some PAX shared stories of where they were when they found out about the horror on this day in 2001. Crawdaddy had something really cool to share, y’all should ask him about it sometime

              STATION IV (Pick your poison)

              Q called on different PAX members for a total of 4 exercises. Multiple rounds were completed of the four corners, and the exercises at station IV consisted of…. Hundreds, Big Boi’s, Russian Twists, Jane Fonda’s, American Hammers, Flutter kicks, Imperial Walkers, LBC’s, Elbow Plank, Freddie Mercury’s ( a few repeats… especially the Hundreds)

              Mode of transportation to next corner was 10 broad jumps, followed by a 10 pace bear crawl

              3 rounds were completed before time. We then moseyed back to the flags with our final 60 seconds.


              COT

              Stay close to your friends. There are too many men out there who gave up on forming true friendships after finishing school. In addition, many men have lost touch with the wonderful friendships that they were blessed with in their younger years. Why? Likely because they have started families, are working on starting families, have gotten career focused… all of which are very good things. Yet, if we do not make time for friendships, we are empty in one corner of our lives. I encouraged PAX to reach back and reconnect with any friendships they may have lost touch with over the years. Encouraged those who have strong friendships to hold onto them and cherish them. I love to see some of the youth sports going on right now, even in the middle of all the modern day madness. It is so much more for these kids than winning. It is camaraderie. It is learning how to win together, deal with defeat and failure, seeing the value of hard work, and caring about and contributing to a greater good. In addition to lifelong friendships, we fortunate men are active in F3 which is developing a whole new set of friends as we continue to age. Proof that making friends is a lifelong journey and should never stop.


              Moleskin

              9 Volt can bear crawl faster than anyone, and if he shaved his wrists to make his fit watch more accurate he would look like a poodle. Deep Dish enjoys a pick your poison exercise and is quite dangerous… to no surprise. Puddles of sweat were left on the courts, staking our claim.

                This verse is about being kind. There are many ways one can give… listening, including others, giving a compliment, telling someone about a book you think they might enjoy, sharing a joke, etc. We are influential beings, and our influence is powerful. Use it for the good, and use it often!
