45 degrees or so – perfect weather for broga foolishness

Met at the Commons; disclosure

SSH x26; forward fold, OYO; walk it out to downward dog, heels on the ground, then right over left, left over right; move to plank for world’s greatest okayest stretch – right, then left

Mosey from the Commons to the top of Mt. Hacksaw the Increased Gravity Zone

The Thang

A Ladder, of sorts

Upon completion of each rung/mosey, PAX were instructed to plank/have tea time to wait for six… mostly heavy breathing, cursing of YHC, and 10 counts ensued

Up the ladder we go
1st rung: 10 burpees, mosey to the bottom of Mt. Hacksaw the Increased Gravity Zone

2nd rung: 10 burpees, 20 squats, mosey to the top of Mt. Hacksaw the Increased Gravity Zone

3rd rung: 10 burpees, 20 squats, 30 big bois, mosey to the bottom

4th rung: 10 burpees, 20 squats, 30 big bois, 40 flutter kicks (hard count), mosey to the top

5th rung (top of the ladder): 10 burpees, 20 squats, 30 big bois, 40 flutter kicks (hard count), 50 heel touches (hard count), mosey to the bottom

Back down the ladder, yet up the Increased Gravity Zone
4th rung: 10 burpees, 20 squats, 30 big bois, 40 flutter kicks (hard count), mosey to the top

3rd rung: 10 burpees, 20 squats, 30 big bois, mosey to the bottom

2nd rung: 10 burpees, 20 squats, mosey back to the Commons

1st rung: 10 burpees Time

Don’t just be in the moment, enjoy it – whether it be with family or friends, working out, at work, etc. Not all moments are enjoyable but find the good where you can, especially with loved ones, and enjoy it.

No one was fooled by YHC’s attempt at pranking the PAX into believing they were in for a relaxing broga set

“Full Moon: you realize we’re still running, right?”

Uncle Joe continues to insist heel touches are a partner exercise… YHC does not completely disagree, but for today they remained solo

Mr. Burns was excused to handle some very important paperwork… thankfully we have (for now) a Johnny-On-The-Spot nearby

Life Alert lamented, a lot, that we ran way more than YHC had led him to believe – this is debatable depending on one’s point of view, yet he may never come back to Hacksaw

“Stay away from me or I’m gonna hit you” – directed at YHC

“Hated it” – everyone

A chilly 42 with some breeze – nice running weather

Disclaimer, mosey to track

Forward fold, OYO and loud; walk it out to downward dog to stretch the calves – right over left, left over right; Quad stretches (pull your heel up to glute, fell the burn) – henceforth, and forever, to be known as Sheboygans

50m skips down the straight and back; 50m butt-kickers down the straight and back

The Thang

Track Day – Intervals
YHC needed some interval work to improve speed/endurance so we did the following:

PAX were encouraged to team up or just go for it

400m lap as fast as comfortable (modifications allowed/encouraged), followed-up by 400m recovery lap

800m fast, 400m recovery

1200m fast, 400m recovery

1600m fast, 400m recovery

PAX that finished the intervals then picked up the 6 and circled up for cool-down stretching: forward fold, OYO and even louder; walk it out to downward dog to stretch the calves again – right over left, left over right; move to plank for world’s greatest okayest stretch – left, then right; WMH x6

Getting better, or progressing, came to YHC during the 1200m interval. Being happy with where you are is not a bad thing, but why not try to progress? YHC could’ve slowed down/walked during the intervals but pushed myself to get to the cool down lap as I want to get better at running. Sure, be happy with where you are (in life/work/etc.) but also push yourself to progress in any/all of these areas.

Apathy is the glove into which evil slips its hand. This quote has stuck with me from, of all places, the cinematic masterpiece Van Wilder, but is apparently credited to Bodie Thoene – wise words either way.

“Bernie’s here, must be Time”

Additional breeze provided by Tatonka having eaten Mexican food twice yesterday

“Guess I’ll just run the whole time – no difference in my mosey and fast pace.”

“Can you imagine Minnesota mumble-chatter – oooooh yah, dontcha know? ope! you betcha!

“Thanks for a proper track day – running the whole time is the point; glad you didn’t make us bring blocks”

Chubby’s; upcoming 2.0 days; Inaugural Battery PokerRunRuck For the Cure Brought to You by Mountain Dew.

Windy (it is #the-u) but mild, 60-ish. Little bitty stingin’ rain, and big ol’ fat rain, rain that flew in sideways, and sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. Then at startex, just like that, someone turned off the rain.

YHC informed the PAX that, due to the rain, he wasn’t quite sure what we would be doing. Plan A quickly changed to Plan B, then to Plan C when the rain stopped.

25 SSH IC; 25 Toe Merkins OYO; 10 WMH IC; 25 Pigeon-Toe Merkins OYO; Forward Fold IC; 25 Duck-Toe Merkins OYO; 21 and 5 burpees; 25 more Toe Merkins OYO

Custer’s Last Stand: modified Indigenous Peoples’ Run wherein the 6 runs the opposite direction of the line. Remaining PAX run, per usual – whoever is at the back of the line upon opposite-direction-runner’s return takes off in opposite direction. We did this for 4 or 5 laps around the parking lot so that every PAX was able to enjoy some alone time in the opposite direction.

The Thang

Elevens at #the-u
Round 1: Jump Squats and Imperial Walkers; start with 1 Jump Squat then run the length of the parking lot and perform 10 (hard count) Imperial Walkers; run back to starting position to do 2 Jump Squats then run the length of the parking lot to do 9 Imperial Walkers; rinse repeat through the cycle until complete; PAX who finished first held plank for 6

Round 2: Plankjacks and Merkins; start with 1 Plankjack then Bernie about a third of the parking lot and perform 10 Merkins… rinse repeat through the cycle until complete; plank for 6

PAX Plank until Time

YHC shared a brief summary of how he obtained his F3 name – you had to be there. Then discussed the importance of kindness to those around you, including yourself. Hard to be kind to the external world when you are unable to be so to yourself – everyone is going through something so kindness can go a long way. One of the many things I love about this cult group is the support – reach out to your brothers, including YHC.

YHC arrived early for a 5k but chose to review the many audibles going through his mind sit in his car because it was raining.

This was the longest distance between 11 exercises ever, mark it so and call the Guinness Book of World Records.

Sousa talked the whole time, yet his hind-horn was relatively quiet, which was nice.

Lots of “getting wet” and “TWSS” chatter

Chubby’s and upcoming Habitat opportunity – see #3rd-f for both; Yellow 5 on Q Friday at the Hack to wrap Three Amigos Week; #2nd-f event on 4/2 for Sousa’s departure to the dude ranch Wyoming

Friday fill-ins are fun (alliteration, amiright?) – will we do the same thing as Wednesday? Will it be something completely brand new and earth-shattering? Or, way more likely, will YHC shamelessly duplicate another workout (with some mods) from a recent post?

For this routine, PAX were advised to focus on form and not worry about # of sets – some of them took this to mean they need only apply minimal effort, which was promptly struck down – underachieving does not equal solid, hard work (TWSS)

The Workout that is much better with music, but no music was provided:
13 of each:
Air Lifters (somebody’s gotta raise this roof)
Leg Lifts (Heels to Heaven, Kamala Harrises, et al.)
Plank Jacks
Dips – these can be a partner exercise, should you need more resistance (and have a willing partner… TWSS)

Do 13 reps of each, take a lap on the inner loop, then do 12, then 11… down to 1 – be sure to take a lap after each set (this is a Full Moon Q, after all). Most PAX got through the set with 6 reps of the exercises, while the overachievers absolute units (cough, AOL, Mayhem, Toe Tag, cough) got through 5, maybe 4

Birthday Burpees for Tube Squeeze!

Patience and being present, especially with 2.0’s. YHC’s kiddos are amazing all the way around (no bias), but they sure know how to press buttons. Being patient and letting them work through feelings/outbursts/etc. is much easier, eventually, than exacerbating the situation by blowing up. Regarding being present: it’s all to easy at the end of a long day to just sit and peruse the ole phone (esp. on Friday’s with Pro’s Wordle commentary…) but, you know what’s way more fun? Cooking fake food and mixing fakes drinks with the 2.0’s for a fake party they are putting on later – cheers.

Be patient. Be present. Be kind. Enjoy life and the people around you.

“I could certainly do without the laps” and “I’ve seen enough of you this week, Full Moon”

Chubby’s – we need to fill up Feb. schedule

Multiple Habitat for Humanity opportunities available – see #3rd-f channel and Mayhem – these may be rescheduled based on response

Tuff Muff coming up – see #convergence-csaup channel – gonna be fun/ridiculous

    Awful. 27 degrees and windy

YHC was quite excited to bring some unoriginality to the White Wigs, and was explaining this as Face Plant came in hot on two wheels, forcing the PAX to dive for cover casually move out of the way.

    The Thang

We began with an exercise pilfered from Burrito – PAX were advised any complaints should be forwarded, with haste, to his attention. The exercise, “Custer’s Last Stand”, is a modified Indigenous Peoples’ Run wherein the 6 executes a burpee before running the opposite direction of the line. Remaining PAX run, per usual** – whoever is at the back of the line upon opposite-direction-runner’s return performs a burpee before taking off in opposite direction. We did this for 3 or 4 (maybe?) laps and so that every PAX was able to enjoy some alone time in the opposite direction.

Upon completion, the next round of exercises was a (drumroll, please…)

    Completely Original Dora

PAX paired up and performed the below:

    200 Merkins

200 Squats (for jelly-legs when running)

200 Imperial Walkers, hard count (for even jellier-legs whilst running)

Some combination of 200 Shoulder Taps (hard count) and/or 200 Heel Touches (hc). It was too cold to de-glove and unlock phone to know which was next, so PAX did what they wanted – freedom! (Not sure these were finished as no one could math today – must’ve been the cold)

    Couple (2) minutes of Mary:

American Hammers 20x IC (“thanks”, Cavity Search)

    Flutter Kicks until time (iLean)***

Attitude. Specifically that it is one of the few things we can control in this hectic world of ours. Similar to YHC’s word back at Legacy, we can chose how we react to just about anything we encounter. Try to begin each day with a positive attitude and keep it, best you can, throughout the day. Also be mindful of it around others, particularly your 2.0’s (thanks for the assist, iLean), as you mold them into the strong men & women you hope they will become.

**”Oh, we’re supposed to do a normal Indigenous run while the other guy is running the other way? Makes more sense now”

“Are you cold, Full Moon? You look like a hobo when the temp’s below 30.”

“Oh, the reps are CUMULATIVE – gotcha, will try to count better next time.”

“It’s not so much your workouts we don’t like, Full Moon, it’s you… BA-DUM-TSS!”

***”We’ve only got a few seconds left, iLean, what you got?”

“59 seconds of Flutter Kicks, apparently”

Not terrible – 39 degrees or so, with a bit of wind from the PAX (YHC included)

SSH x20, WMH x10, SSH x20, FF OYO, SSH x20, Tea Time OYO

Build a dog house* – Ladder of Merkins and Air-Lifts: 1 Merkin, move to knees for 1 Air-Lift, 2 Merkins, 2 Air-Lifts… up to 10 of each – we did not come back down the ladder as PAX (YHC included, again) had had enough.

Mosey around the path/track of the park, about a mile, stop at the back parking lot for the thang – this is around the time someone almost soiled themselves.

      The Thang

PAX paired up for an Ab Dora – one performed exercise while the other ran a lap around the building, then switch

      100 Flutter Kick, hard count

      150 Imperial Walkers, hard count

      200 Mountain Climbers, hard count

      250 Freddie Mercuries, hard count

      300 Heel Touches, hard count

      Rinse/repeat the above until…

Stress, and how YHC has been dealing with it lately (hint: not well) discussed. We all have many stressors in life and have the ability to choose our reaction. Typically, the culprit is our reaction, not the situation/issue/etc. itself. YHC mused upon his readings of Stoicism and how this philosophy has helped him in dealing with stress in the past.

“Man is not worried by real problems so much as by his imagined anxieties about real problems.” — Epictetus

*YHC has never attempted this exercise – “If you can’t do it, don’t Q it” may have been mumbled by all

PAX requested music for the Thang – YHC obliged with a terrible throwback/90’s hip-hop playlist

“You know it’s a decent workout when Sousa shats himself.” “I don’t think he actually did, so just OK?”

“I got one ab! Feel it, feel it!!”

        Full Moon’s Five Station Frenzy
PAX count off into groups of 5, then start at one of the 5 designated stations located at each of the Military Service Stars around the inner loop of our beloved AO. As PAX took off to their assigned starting station, they were advised to focus on form and not rush, lest they rinse/repeat the cycle below:

Station 1: 25 Shoulder Press w/coupon; 20 Mountain Climbers (4 count); 15 Curls w/coupon; 10 Squats w/coupon; 5 X-factors (hard count); Rifle Carry coupon to next station, take a lap

        Station 5: 25 Mountain Climbers (4 count); 20 Curls w/coupon; 15 Squats w/coupon; 10 X-factors (hard count); 5 Should Press w/coupon; Rifle Carry to next/initial station, take a lap (time permitting)

All PAX finished the cycle and did their starting station again, with the overachievers doing their first and second (and third?) stations again

Upon completion of the cycle (and starting station again) YHC’s group took a final lap to collect the all important exercise papers, and to instruct remaining PAX to finish their station then regroup at the Flag and plank until 6 was in

        5 more Burpees for fun

Discussed and reviewed importance of Kindness – to ourselves, our family and friends, our colleagues, and the outside world. This time of year particularly, we could all benefit from both receiving and extending kindness to everyone around us.
