We mosey back under the road and through the woods to the softball (?maybe?) complex. 
Base station is control freak merkins. Each stage up the road is a new exercise, then we run back to the base station, and begin again. After each round, we add a new exercise, and return to base. Think suicides, but adding an exercise at each stop. Cadence passed off to a new member of the PAX for each item.

CIRCLE OF TRUST:  I’ve been awful this week. I didn’t get up on Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday. I’ve had a rough week with a new job, and my natural state is to retreat and avoid people. But the brotherhood is real, and wouldn’t let me do that. Three different people reached out to me to find out where I was, and get me back in the swing of things. You get out of F3 what you put into it. I’m grateful for the accountability.

We have some new Qs coming on line, and in short order. There was a method to the madness of passing cadence. Sometimes that means cadence is a little rocky. It’s cool. We all have to learn somehow.

Humidity was like working through a cloud. Everyone was soaked. 


J-Wow was named because his name is Jay and he’s from New Jersey.
Flatline was so named because he was brought by John Doe, obvs.
BMX is Bernie’s 2.0. Impressive to drag a gradeschooler out of bed before 10 during the summer.

    CIRCLE OF TRUST: Been thinking a great deal about the second “F”.   I’ve had a group of friends since Middle School and since college we still manage to get together a couple of times a year.  A few weeks ago we were able to get together for a weekend and for a wedding.  While I cherish these friendships and they have stood the test of time, the amount of interaction and the infrequency with which we meet won’t provide the accountability that I need.  What I need, what each of us need is that nudge to keep us striving to be better.  Iron sharpens iron.

        Get To Know Your States 

        We started on State 33 (Oregon) to State 50 (Hawaii).  We started with the exercise that was associated with the state you occupied.  After 30 Seconds with AMRAP all PAX rotate to the next station.  #50 Hawaii PAX does a sprint to #1 Delaware (Crickets!!!???), and we started the next 30 seconds.  Once all PAX were at State 1 (Still Delaware) to #17 (Ohio), we moved to next state flag (Exercise) and approx 10 seconds started exercise.  Rinse and Repeat for as many stations we can get to in allotted time.  (We also were to Announce in a loud and proud voice when we reached the State we were born in or the first one we lived in is born abroad).  We made it through 44 states/stations.  Future Note: Incorporate Warm-up into stations or save for 1 hour workout.

        CIRCLE OF TRUST:  Counterama, Namerama, Announcearama : Announced work day for tomorrow, Fallen 5 Ruck, and Convergence July 4th.  Spoke of June being a month of remembering (Memorial Day, Flag Day, Army’s 244th Birthday- HOOORAH).  But it was a good reminder of the sacrifices many made in the birth of our country and ultimate sacrifice to keep us FREE!  We named our new FNG (BodyBag)…We seem have a theme going at HackSaw.

        My eyes are still burning from the Huey and Ducktales (Crop Dusting) yesterday.  Today, we tried to learn a little about the states in the 30 seconds we occupied the space.  Surprised that at the beginning everyone knew who the 50th State was (Hawaii), but Crickets when I asked which was the first (Delaware).  Of course Wazn’tMe, reminded us all that even the people of Delaware aren’t aware they are a state!  LOL….That was good!

            Having done this before in the past, I knew we would be racing the clock, so we got right into it.

            Sticking with a theme, we had a “block-man” (representative of the devil, in our context) who sets the pace. Our goal as pax was to beat the devil as is often the case in life. The Devil nipping at one’s heels. Would you let him beat you? Win the race? Gain the upper hand? We found out…

            Also – to further the theme, YHC prepared a playlist of songs featuring “Devil”, “Beast”, or some other reference to the underworld. The playlist is …listed… in the Moleskin for those in wonderment.

            Life has its way of tempting all of us; almost daily. Temptation cannot be avoided, and it is not a race we want to run alone. During the routine this morning, I realized that there was a deeper meaning to racing/fighting/conquering that source of temptation (e.g. the block-man). He tempts you, tires you, shows you that which you cannot/could not attain, makes you want that which you cannot have. But for what reason? Is it good? Is it wholesome? Is it right? Or is it for selfish purpose? Is it for self promotion?

            Beat the temptation, thwart the devil or evil-spirited demon driving the temptation by the community with which you surround yourself. That community (perhaps a very non-cultish sort of organization like F3), should be holding you accountable to the things that are good and righteous. Whatever you decide, beating the temptation is not easily done on your own, nor is it recommended. Shield lock with your close F3 brethren, become better and become the opposing force in all temptation with strength in numbers.

            • During BTTW, I offered to the pax that blood circulation (especially in the morning) was a great thing for the brain – for concentration and creativity. A few pax enjoyed the conversation so much they discussed other examples where enhanced blood flow is helpful (particularly in the morning). I seem to mis-remember specific examples that were cited…
            • FNG naming was quick like a guillotine –
              Let me set the scene, John Doe and FNG arrive to the COP during the disclaimer. We commence the workout. Halfway through the routine, John Doe throws deuces and explains that he came this morning only so that the FNG would show up; High Impact Man. John Doe exits stage left, and as a man of clearly Irish descent, he adorns the “Irish Goodbye” moniker well. “Did well”.

              So we proceed with the naming ceremony -Georgia fan, UGA alumni (blech!), fly-fisherman, two kids, works at a paper mill… just wasn’t whetting the appetites of our big-brain’d Pax.

              So, John Doe the unknown throws another unknown man to the f3 wolves… we’re trying to come up with something, and Threeskin blurts out, “John Doe was here and he left so Toe Tag?”… an unknown person in the morgue (or otherwise) would just get a toe tag…and so it goes…

            • YHC is an idiot sometimes and doesn’t understand the regional dialect all that well… ‘Andy Left’? No, stupid, he said “And he left”…

PAX at back of line bearcrawls to the front, while second-to-last PAX in line calls out control freak merkins (up/down as many or few as caller wants) for the line to complete. Once bearcrawler gets to the front, Halt is called, and the second-to-last man is now the bearcrawler. Rinse/repeat. Inchwormed across the front of the Great Flags to complete a half circle.

                Line up and go back to where we started, but on the six. Bearcrawler is now crabwalking to the front, and the second-to-last PAX calls Freddie Mercuries.

                Back the other direction, PAX resume and hold plank position. Last man bearcrawls, rest of PAX hold plank to failure. Bearcrawl/inchworm to the Anchor to create another half-circle.

                During warmup, final cadence was called with “Just One More,” instead of altering vocal tone or a countdown. The Hacksaw is so named for Desmond Doss, whose statue overlooks the park. Doss was a Medal of Honor recipient who saved so many injured men during the Pacific theater of WWII. 
                When Doss was pulling injured soldiers off the ridge, he was praying for the strength to get “Just One More.” It’s easy to get down in the dumps about life’s challenges, especially when it’s feeling overwhelming. But YHC is challenging the PAX to instead ask for the ability to handle Just One More obstacle, adversity, or challenge. Instead of praying for the difficulties to go away, we should follow Doss’ example and pray for the ability to tackle Just One More – whatever it may be.

                Good to have Sidekick back from Raleigh – he was welcomed with MonkeyHumpers. Fastlane isn’t allowed to call cadence for control freak merkins. Sadist.                     Incorporated the 40 lb bags of Deer Corn this morning with a Dora of Incline Curb Mercans, Corn bag squats and a lap around the Stripper Mall.  Two teams of 3.

                    Round 2 was not really a Dora.  Still two teams of 3, all 3 members lunging forward, one with the corn on their back.  We went about 20 yds, then switched the corn to a second teammate who lunged with the corn until the last corn toter ran a lap around the stripper mall.  Then handed off to the third member, second member ran his lap, etc.  Did this until we lapped the Stripper mall with lunges.  Kind of like a corn totin lungin injun run.

                    Mosey across Talladega super speedway to the playground and mixed in some lat rows, swing assisted knee pull in ab exercises, pushes ups on Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo.  Mosey back to the flag for some pretzel crunches.  Time
