    Had one of my Daily words come through my e-mail this past week that really stuck out to me; some of these daily meditations are not so great and some are awesome, this one was awesome; It said “don’t let your feelings get in the way of your relationship with God”. It got me thinking about how often, I and probably many others, let our feelings get in the way of doing things the right way or the hard way. If you don’t feel like praying, do it anyways; If you don’t feel like getting up; do it anyways; If you don’t feel like being kind, do it anyways; If you don’t feel like working hard; work hard anyways. Whatever that IT is that you need to be doing but aren’t doing because of your feelings; Just do it! You’ll be glad you did.

      Spoke about “being present” , used the example of when I took a new job to be in town with my family and quickly realized that there is a HUGE difference in being there physically and being present. Challenged the PAX and myself especially to be present; in interactions with spouse, children, colleagues, anyone whom you are interacting with, etc. This is key in building and sustaining relationships and respect. I have struggled with this as many others likely have as well.

        Really been thinking lately on consistency, not just in the family realm and physical fitness realm but in the spiritual realm as well. The unfortunate reality is that we live in a society now that de-values both hard work and commitment along with steadfast faithfulness. Don’t let that deter you from maintaining your consistency, especially in your walk with Jesus. As leaders of men, our families, our colleagues, etc. we are called to remain consistent in all aspects of our life but especially in our faithfulness. A consistent Christian scares our society to death, so let’s make them sweat!

          Talked about anxiety; especially pertaining to a personal situation. All of us face times of anxiety at varying levels and it is important to follow and Trust God’s plan during those times. Read the verse: Phillipians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”

          I was in a situation Sunday night where I couldn’t sleep due to some anxiety and I came across this verse. I prayed and allowed God to transform my anxiety into trusting him.

            Read two quotes: “What gives definition in your life is what you have built in as part of your life” – Unknown. As my pastor Sunday talked about this, it reminded me of something else I had heard in the past. That was that, the things we want most in life come by going to the places or mindsets that we least want to go. Encouraged the PAX to keep pressing through. The reality is whether it’s physical, spiritual, family life, work life, or whatever it may be, we are all going through something. Keep showing and keep pressing play and the end result will be better regardless of what it looks like now.

              Talked about forgiveness. Somebody asked a friend of mine who happens to be a preacher where the line is between forgiving somebody without their repentance versus waiting on it before forgiving, in other words, what wrong doing is bad enough to justify needing their sorry. His response was interesting and it started leading into the mindset and how a calm and forgiving mind is peace but a very calm and forgiving mind is joy. He mentioned that forgiving someone in the eyes of Jesus has simply nothing at all to do with their sorry or repentance for the act (hard to swallow I know!). Alternatively, it has everything to do with you or I (the one forgiving) and the mindset of joy and peace. Forgiving someone is a personal choice and should have nothing to do with your feelings or thoughts towards them or whether or not they are truly sorry. Challenged PAX to forgive in this manner even when they feel like the other party does not deserve that forgiveness.

              At beginning, Faceplant asked Q who pissed him off, response was very quick…”Second Base”. To which Second Base responded, you need to get over that LOL. This led to a brief remark on this conversations relevance to the COT later to come.

              Q has taken the “very friendly” advice on ways to fix speaker; cleaned it out and it worked just fine this AM….WreckedEm could even hear it all the way from the parking lot at 0532 to the bleachers. It helped guide him to our beatdown.

                Talked about a quote from a Kobe Bryant interview. He noted this was from a teacher of his and it stated “Rest at the end, not in the middle” I started thinking about this over the weekend and how Kobe applied it to his basketball career and was one of the best basketball players of all time. I started thinking about how I can apply this not only to physical limits but also to my spiritual life. I challenged the PAX to live their lives this way in the spirit of true discipleship for Jesus. This means we can’t rest in our lives from a discipleship and spiritual perspective until we are called Home.

PAX #1 performed Curls; PAX #2 performed Shoulder Presses while PAX #3 performed murder bunnies 20-25 yards to second set of cones; PAX #1 then replace PAX #3 doing murder bunnies back to original cones; Repeated this process until each PAX did murder bunnies twice

                  During the murder bunnies, after each second hop, PAX “flipped” block to the other side

                  PART THREE – JESUS WASHES FEET (exercises with feet)

                  Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for us; so PAX were challenged to grab a partner and do 50 Blockees cumulatively; Push as hard as you can to complete as many Blockees as possible for your fellow F3 brother.

                  PART SIX – JESUS RISES FROM THE DEAD; EMPTY TOMB (Mary)

                  Among those that discovered the rock rolled away was Mary Magdalene, so we performed 4MOM

                  Spoke about how struggles and suffering lead to resurrections. In short form, I challenged the PAX to reflect over the next two days before the Easter celebration on just how much suffering was involved for us to be saved by Jesus Christ. We suffer many times in our life, but never to the level of Jesus. The ultimate point was that Holy Week can serve as a good reminder that when our life is not going as it should or when we are in a Valley in life or in a painful situation where it seems we will never be able to get out, there is still Resurrection. Jesus walks with us through all seasons of life and has given us the ability to see that he is with is even in the midst of turmoil. Let us turn to reflection and remember the suffering so that we the Sunday celebration is not taken for granted!

                  Performed Mary at the end of beatdown; PAX were really glad someone named “Sally” did not find the empty tomb. I dove into History just to be sure….I am fairly confident there was no Sally but I did try….

                  Opened up with how we should suffer and remember the suffering of Jesus so that we can truly be touched during the celebrations. Stork reminder me that Jesus did all of this to take away our suffering….For a brief moment, I thought about making the beatdown easier given this fact, but I didn’t

                  PAX were wondering when we got to the part of the story where the disciples fell asleep….Q told them 6:16 am.

Over the weekend, my pastor talked about how difficult it is to take a back seat from our own plans sometimes and trust God’s ultimate plan for our life. Perfect example of this is Abraham. He was tired of waiting for children and so he and Sarah decided he would take a second wife and have children through her. This only led to conflict and turmoil in Abraham and Sarah’s life. God had a plan for them but they weren’t patient enough to see it all the way through. I challenged myself and the PAX to be patient and allow God to lead and guide our lives.

                    Not sure anybody, including Q, enjoyed the workout this morning. A lot of grumbles, but hey we got better!

                    Q had orange/white painted block for Tennessee, Blair Witch asked if it was an “anti-theft” mechanism to have it painted that color. Reminded him that UT won the SEC!….in basketball…
