I again re-emphasized the importance of the second F.  I shared this a couple weeks back at Smackdown but with a different crowd, I thought it was appropriate to share what we mean by the second F. While the first F is the “magnet” that brings us here, the second F is the “glue” that keeps us coming back.  I will admit, I don’t particularly like exercise.  For me, it’s a means to an end.  However, I keep coming back to F3 not only because of the exercise, but because of the fellowship with other like-minded men to support each other.  Nobody likes doing tough things.  However, when you have a group of men like we have, it makes it that much easier and forges a bond that is unbreakable.  Iron truly sharpening iron.  I am thankful for these men and the opportunity to lead and help everyone get better.

Moleskin

We all had a scare this morning when one of our brothers was in distress.  Luckily, there were three physicians there should anything have happened.

Outbreak really got a kick out of the pickle pointers and there was a lot of snickering amongst the PAX

Our FNG had to leave early so he didn’t get named

Iron Butt led us out by saying something positive about everyone in attendance.

The Second F of F3 is fellowship, also known as the “Glue”.  As we discussed last week, the first F (Fitness) is the magnet that brings us in but the second F is the glue that forms those “sticky” relationships that men need but so many are missing.  Most men have voids in their lives because they lack the strong male relationships that helps fight off Sad Clown.  When men endure something difficult together, that sticky bond becomes even stronger.  By forging these strong bonds, men develop a network of guys that will be there during the tough times.  In the almost two years I have been doing F3, these bonds have dramatically changed my life in a positive way.  Having that “sticky” network of close friends makes me a better man.

YHC has been reading “Own the Day” recently and has been inspired.  The basic premise of each chapter is taking one part of your day and optimizing it.  If you put these things together, you can “own the day” instead of it owning you.  The chapter last night was regarding work and finding fulfillment in your work.  Workers who are happy and fulfilled in what they are doing tend to do better work.  Those that feel hindered tend to be less efficient and hate their job.  Up to 80% of people hate going to work everyday.  Why spend life doing something that makes you miserable?  Find your passion, follow your dream, and achieve levels you’ve never achieved before.

As odd as it sounds, I had a dream Sunday night where Prosciutto was speaking to me about how to Q.  He kept repeating words like “Just do what works for you” or “Just do what’s right for you”.  I have been thinking about this for two solid days, trying to tie in what this meant for me.  I take it to mean that we can’t worry about conforming to societal standards, we must do what’s right for us and what works for us (and by us I mean our family, friends, co-workers, etc.).  This is not meant to be selfish or self-serving in any way.  The reality is that what works for one person or group may not work for another.  Over the last several years, my family and I have been trying to figure out what’s right for us.  Our decisions haven’t always been the most popular  but we truly believe that God presented us with certain situations and opportunities because it was what was right for us at the time.  It’s not for everyone, but it was what worked for us.  I encourage everyone to seek out what’s best for them.  Don’t conform, do something because you believe it’s the right thing to do.

“He was right in saying that the only certain happiness in life is to live for others.” – Leo Tolstoy

I came across this quote in my readings and it really stuck with me.  This is what F3 is all about.  I had a long weekend with little sleep and lots of work.  However, knowing that I needed to be out here for my fellow HIM motivated me to get up and lead this morning.  Consider this each day.  The most selfless thing that we can do is to live for others.

          Moleskin

YHC was running on fumes so his participation in the MC was minimal.  There was plenty going on about the usually things:  unit size, pickle pointers, etc.  It was also good to have a brief but worthwhile discussion with Ducktales regarding priorities in life and being present for our family.  The Count made it known that he chose this AO today because he knew that I valued staying dry as much as possible.

                COT

I didn’t prepare a WOD today but my M sent me a podcast yesterday entitled “The Paradox if Progress”. While there were numerous salient points for me. Most applicable to me was his point about the priorities we have. We get so consumed with how we look, what we drive, where we live and other markers of status that we often forget why we have those things. We forget what’s important in life and what makes that all possible. Whether Christian or not, it’s important to realize that someone or something above ourselves aided us along the way. We work hard to make progress. We make progress to make us happy. We want happiness to enjoy our lives. The paradox comes when we’ve achieved all these things, we often forget how we got there and who helped us get there. So while we think we are making progress in life, we are actually regressing as people. I encourage everyone to sit back and appreciate how we got to where we are and give credit where credit is due.

Surprisingly low MC today. I think we were all disturbed at the prospect of Iron Butt posting in a speedo on Saturday.

                  COT

While picking random Scripture earlier this week, I came across a verse in a book that I seldom read, Zephaniah.  Interestingly, there was a verse underlined on that page:  “Seek to do what is right and to live humbly” (Zephaniah 2:3).  This really spoke to me and I thought it was very appropriate for the mission of F3.  Whether Christian or not, something can be learned from this verse.  Simply words to live by that have a huge impact.

First, seek to do what is right.  This should be our goal with each action, each and every day.  If you stick to doing what’s right, you can’t go wrong.  Even when no one is looking, seek to do what is right.  If we all did this, the impact would be enormous

Second, live humbly.  It took me a minute to decipher what was meant here.  To me, living humbly follows with one theme of F3, recognizing that you are not the end all be all, there is a higher power.  I am blessed beyond anything that I’ve ever deserved and I did nothing to earn it.  I am humbled when I think about the infinite blessings each and every day that I’ve done nothing to deserve.

There were lots of noxious gases being admitted during the workout.  Some may or may not have been blamed on the lady walking by us.  Ducktales mentioned the GrowRuck interest form no less than 73 times.  Several PAX need new alarm clocks.
