COT

Labels. Recycling my COT from Detention. We all want to put a label on things we don’t like, things we don’t understand, things that offend us, challenge us, etc. All for the purpose to degrade so we feel better about ourselves. Watch yourself as you go through the day and see how many times you can catch yourself putting a label on someone. I have noticed this in myself as I continually search for “who I am”. Instead of judging others recently, I am finding myself looking inward and seeing in myself what I was offended by from someone else. It was helped me grow in many aspects. Hopefully you can gain some insight from this and better yourself as well.

    COT

I like to aggravate our dear beloved Blue about his messages about Grace, but we all know it is needed and needed now more than ever. If you’ll indulge me, I would like to add to that idea. I heard a great message regarding both truth and grace. We as a Pax agreed that we feel honesty is extremely important in maintaining integrity, so how about this idea?
Truth is often to harsh for people while Grace is often too compromising. Apply these two together and we can really develop quality interactions with our fellow man.

The above was my message. I added a little more of a personal story afterward regarding a character trait but will keep it brief here. Selfishness is not viewed a positive trait. A self-serving purpose, too, is often viewed as a negative motivation/means to an end. Either way, should this occur, make sure the end both justifies the means and helps all parties involved grow.

    Moleskin

Overall, it was of great quality at certain times. I think I will just keep it “close to the vest” for the 8 other men who defeated the fartsack this Gloom…

      The Thang

      Partner Exercise
Begin by lapping around the track. Stopped at 4 stations and did 5 burpees to remind everyone where each station is. Ended up doing 15 burpees at one stop because 2 Bud Light Trucks came by, so we did not do burpees at station 4.

Everyone partnered up. Each person was responsible for doing all the reps. The partner was for encouragement and accountability. Q called an exercise, the group then performed that exercise at each station. At the end of each lap, plank/Al Gore for the six, then everyone gets a new partner.

      Exercises were:

      25 Merkins

      25 Squats

      25 BBS

      50 Monkey Humpers

      Ended with Circle Merkins

          COT

Tim Tebow tells a story about a time he went to an awards banquet in which he was up for 6 awards and he didn’t receive a single one. He had invited a young woman that had been through a bunch of challenges in her life to be his date for the evening. When he didn’t get awarded the 6th award, he was frustrated and his mother leaned in and told him the following:

“YOU’VE ALREADY WON TONIGHT. YOU JUST DON’T GET YOUR REWARD UNTIL HEAVEN.”
          Tebow went on to say…
When we change our perspective from focusing on ourselves and shift focus to what really matters like fulfilling the needs of others, everything changes for us. For Tebow, personally, so much has changed since he learned to shift focus. In life, it’s hard to keep perspective because we’ve got a society that tells us it’s all about us. It’s all about fame, fortune, and power. I’m here to tell you that life is not about any of those things at all. Those things are great and you can use them to create change and influence others, but they are not the epitome of success or achievement.
SUCCESS IS NOT ABOUT MONEY, FAME, AND POWER. IT’S ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE YOU CAN MAKE IN SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE.

One of my favorite verses from the Bible that always gets me in the right mindset when it comes to perspective is Romans 5:8. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. That truth has made the biggest difference in my life. It challenges me to live life with an eternal perspective and to seek out whose life God may choose to use me to make a difference in because of the amazing difference Christ has made in my life.

I hope this COT challenges you to seek the same in your life, to put aside focusing on yourself so much and ask God to help you make a difference in someone else’s life today. – “He is first and I am second.”

              Wagon Wheel

The Wagon wheel works great with a circular running path and just by happenchance, the Huey has a circular running track.

The wheel consists of 8 stations (the spokes) connected to a central Hub, with the track making up the wheel.

The 8 stations are as follows: Mahktar Merkins X 10 hard Count; Crab Claps X 10 Hard Count; Block Press X 15; SSH X 20 Hard Count; Block Curls X 20; Imperial Squats X 15 Hard Count; Jungle Boi Squats X 15; BBSU X 20

The routine is as follows: PAX split up to the 8 stations, with 11 total, 3 stations have 2 guys. Complete the reps on the paper and run to the hub, perform 5 Burpees, run back to the station and complete the reps again. Mosey counter clockwise to the next station and repeat. Repeat this around until all stations are complete.

We each grabbed one more station when the 6 was in based on our buddy’s least favorite.

Now the rains came. This was not a sprinkle, into a drizzle, into a rain. This was nothing, straight to a down pour. A turd floater if you will.

We ran under the pavilion and ended with some Dip planks, some dercans; some exaggerated groin and hammy stretching, hands out Ircans, and finally some dying cockroach.

Today we talked about the parable with Jesus giving the blind man his sight. This is relatable to todays society in that we are all blinded to some degree by something. There is always something that takes our attention away from our relationship with Jesus.

We switched partners and complete the same routine, with a little shorter distance and 15 LBCs. Next, we completed 20 curls keeping with the same routine.
One more switch of the partners, 25 straight leg deadlifts, 20 LBCs, and 15 Curls. We, of course, completed the bear crawl routine between each exercise.

We closed with Geek Squad leading us in Dolly for 12 reps IC and Blue leading us in Hollow Body Hold for 10 count IC.

                COT

Regrets: If each Pax were surveyed and asked about regrets, my conjecture is this: he either (1) bows out his “pride muscles” by puffing out the chest and throwing his shoulders back and boldly claims, “I regret nothing”; (2) swallows his pride a bit and talks about attempting to regret little but admittedly regrets some past actions; or (3) boldly admits regrets exists in his life, but he works everyday to cut down on the actions he takes which cause regret.

No matter the answer, YHC spoke about the opportunities in life in which we have opportunities to control the outcome significantly in order to prevent those regrettable moments.

This morning centered around two simple ideas: The F3 workout and connecting with others. As Geek Squad once stated, “I have certainly regretted not going to a workout, but I have yet to regret going to a workout.” Powerful words. When the only hinderance between going to a workout is cold weather and a warm bed, then take away the opportunity for regret to seep into your life. Get out into the Gloom with your brothers.

YHC moved into the next topic. Oddly enough, it connects with that whole brotherhood idea. We often throw around the word brother in F3. Do we really mean it? If so, who are we reaching out too as often as possible to check on them, connect with them, invite them to something, encourage them, or even, and this will sound gosh awful crazy, tell them you love them. If they’re truly you’re brother, then don’t you love them? What possible regret could come from something like this? So yeah, you may not get the same positivity and love in return, but that’s not why you’re doing it in the first place. It’s not for affirmation. It’s not because they deserve it. It’s not because they’re the cool kid. It’s because you care about them and genuinely want to know they’re well and want to offer support.

Studies have found that experiences are more memorable than gifts. Experiences relieve stress, leave lasting memories, and provide benefits well beyond the length of material items. Consider this Christmas season, and what experiences you and your family are going through. Are they positive? Will they leave fond memories?

Now is the time it gets tough to get out of bed and exercise with your friends. It’s cold. I had it easy today as the Q; too much pressure on the Q to no show for his pals. Proper kudos to Geek Squad, Iron Butt, Ducktales, U-Turn and Ground Rod for doing the hard thing this morning. Pats on the back all around.

Ducktales might’ve been struggling with allergies today. He told us he had tears running down his face. I said maybe we should rename him DUCTtales. Funniest joke ever. Nobody laughed.
